Welcome

Thank you for visiting the web site for my campaign to be our next State Representative from the 53rd Legislative District in Illinois, which encompasses parts of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Prospect Heights, and Mt Prospect.

During the coming months, I am continuing to visit groups and individuals, finding out what you want from your state representative. What I am hearing is you want less divisiveness, more transparency, and real solutions to the challenges in health care, education, and taxes that face our district. I look forward to continuing to listen to your concerns and ideas.

Please check back regularly for updates on what I am learning from all of you and to find out what is happening in the campaign.

Sincerely,

Carol Javens

Town Hall Discussion on Education

As the mother of a special needs child, I know the importance of good schools. We need to provide the tools and resources necessary for teachers to be most effective in the classroom. If elected, I will work to reduce class sizes and lower property taxes by ensuring the state is properly investing in our schools.

Several area residents I have met walking door to door have expressed their concerns over the funding and resources for our local schools. I believe that by talking with local teachers about what they're facing on a daily basis, we can help to change the direction of education in our state.

I will be hosting a town hall discussion on education policy and funding with area teachers. Please join me:

Helping Soldiers Overseas Call Home

With more than 150,000 troops serving overseas and away from their families, I have joined Cell Phones for Soldiers, and am asking area residents to support these brave men and women by donating used cell phones.

Many people don't know what to do with their old cell phones after they have replaced them and this is a great way to do something positive for those men and women overseas who are defending our country. I grew up in a military family and my cousin is getting ready to ship out on his second tour of duty with the Marines. I know how difficult it can be for our soldiers and their families back home to cope with the long separation and anxiety that comes when visits and communication are cut off. Cell Phones for Soldiers hopes to collect over 50,000 cell phones this year to help keep troops connected with their families.

The donated phones are sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers enough money for each phone to provide an hour of talk time for soldiers abroad to call home. Donated phones are refurbished for resale or dismantled and recycled to reclaim components.

Please support our troops by donating your used cell phones at the following locations:

Volunteer, Send Letters, Make a Difference!

I am still looking for people to help me oppose the unjust Stroger sales tax increase.

You can e-mail me to request a copy of the petition to sign or circulate in your neighborhood to repeal the recent Cook County sales tax increase. Volunteers are also needed to help in the office by assembling mail, walking door to door and calling residents to inform them about our efforts fighting for the forgotten middle class.

Please also join my Friends & Family program to inform the people you know in the community about our efforts. Contact me at my office at (847) 797-5684 or e-mail me at info@caroljavens.com to request more information.

Yards Signs will be coming soon! Let me know if we can place a sign outside your home to help spread our message.

Finally, as you know, effective campaigns cost money. Please consider donating $15 or $20 online today by visiting http://www.caroljavens.com/donate.html.

Thank you for your support!
